SolarWorld, a global manufacturer of photovoltaic products, has successfully installed a photovoltaic system of a capacity of 1.3 MW on a landfill site in Poland. This system has mounted on the landfill site in Tomaszów Lubelski in Poland which makes it the largest plant built on landfill site to date. This solar park was connected to grid in October. Zamość Sp. z o.o., an installation company developed its custom mounting system.
SolarWorld AG has installed several PV systems in Poland in last three years. Most of the systems are ground-mounted such as PV plant in Wlodawa with 1 MW capacity connected to grid in July and another system of 1 MW is being installed in Karolówka Kolonia. The company has installed PV systems of total output of 9 MW in Poland this year. While in 2014, it installed systems with capacity of 15.7 MW.
Dr. Frank Asbeck, Chairman of the board at SolarWorld AG said that their early entry into the market in Poland was an important step because it enabled them to form structures and build a distribution network early on. He added that from next year, a feed-in tariff will be introduced in Poland and the demand will pick up, and SolarWorld is well prepared for this. The company aims to increase the number of small rooftop PV systems through feed-in tariff and offering complete packages with all necessary components. These small systems from SolarWorld are easy to install and their 3-6 kW sizes are ideal for single or dual family homes.
