Giving Buildings an Intelligent Makeover

AAEON, a major developer of industrial computing solutions and a member of the Intel® Internet of Things Solutions Alliance, is set to introduce this technology to traditional buildings, adding intelligence to them to make smart buildings a reality.
AAEON’s current quartet of IoT gateways, the AIOT-QA, AIOT-QG, AIOT-QM, and AIOT-DRM, leverages on the Intel® IoT Gateway reference design which includes technology from McAfee and Alliance member Wind River, and collaborates with HMS Networks AB for expanding connectivity, improving interoperability, and reducing lead time to market.
Powered by Intel® Quark™ SoCs/ Atom™ CPUs, and equipped with Wind River Intelligent Platform XT, Linux, and McAfee Embedded Control security technology, the solutions are designed specifically for Smart Buildings/Factories, with the ability to perform critical tasks such as executing industrial electromechanical processes, handling multiple arrangements of digital and analog input and output, and acting as a bridge for passing information back and forth between the server and end-devices.
For example, the AIOT-DRM is a step pyramid-shaped gateway made up of a base PC board, CPU board, and industrial I/O board, each stacked atop one another from the top to bottom, respectively. The top level provides Internet access and expansion capabilities; computation in the middle; and analog-to-digital conversion at the bottom.
AAEON preference over x86 platforms offers greater space for differentiation. In addition, through the use of a SDK supplied by SDK, the access capability of third-party software for controlling or accessing the device can be made simpler.
Also available is the AIOT-X1000 subcompact board, the brain behind the abovementioned gateways. Powered by the Intel® Quark™ SoC X1000 series, it incorporates comprehensive I/Os such as RS-485s and digital I/Os for users wishing to realize their ideal solution.
