SPIRIT announces that its MP3 algorithm is now fully compliant with ARM platforms (ARM9e, ARM9, and ARM7). The software performs real-time audio decoding starting at a low 10 MHz clock speed (on ARM9e). The new implementation fully takes advantage of Arm’s DSP instruction set extensions, achieving 25% more efficiency compared with a dual-MAC 16-bit DSP's. Targeted for personal audio players and recorders, HDTV, STB, digital radio, and other audio systems, SPIRIT MP3 consumes as low as 7.5 MIPS and 17.5 KBytes of program memory. This outstanding performance is achieved with SPIRIT’s unique technology that allows greatly improved efficiencies compared to conventional solutions thus achieving the industry’s lowest MIPS and memory requirements.
